100_3831

Well the quilt above was lying on the trundle bed  for oh…3minutes and then Molly took over, this is the stripy one I am putting the binding on. Half way there…

I got all 36 blocks made and most of the sashing done, plus out and garden all morning, plus rearranged and thoroughly cleaned my bedroom.

Lots of blogging about quilt mart and all the gorgeous fabrics, then everyone had giveways on their blogs missed allot of the action do to life choirs but that is okay it will be fun to see what everyone had won.

Hope you also all had a great long weekend.

just one page

Flipping through Australian patchwork and quilting and this is what happens, this is what started, 16 blocks done and sixteen more waiting to be stitch

I made this pattern (one block) when I first started quilting and wanted to make a whole quilt…well it was time. I have a great sashing to put on after much auditioning and wait till you see the other blocks that are going to play.

I`m walking on Sunshine….

100_3825
Well I just have the binding to put on, Dorothy M from my quilting guild did a wonderful job quilting exactly what I was looking for. I am just thrilled with the finishing.
As per the last post this is the quilt Rosemarie, MaryK (anonymous poster) and I are putting together in remembrance of our Thursday`s get together. MaryK and I will still make the effort but it will be very far for Rosemarie to appear for our Thursday`s together. .

I did this Quilt version slightly different then the red one. I have added the solid boarders and only a boarder of 2in blocks all the way around. The quilt is so much bigger than the red one I didn`t want to get halfway and realized I didn`t have enough blocks for the sashing.

Rosemarie was starting a tutorial, I had to let her know that I got this from a pattern so due to copy write I totally understand why she had to discontinue, we still made our own version of the quilt but it is still a pattern, go to Rosemarie`s blog and she has the link  there are many strippy patterns this one is on the last page.
Warning this is done in batiks in the pattern there is little give on the bias, when using your best UGLY fabrics you are going to get some bias issues, be very careful with your ironing and piecing.

100_3826
I know, I know less talk more pictures…totally understand I hope with this picture you can see Dorothy`s quilting.
Don`t look at the 2 blocks that are so close together….of course it would be the picture I would take. I would like to thank Dorothy on her advise on putting on boarders and sashing measure, measure, measure…I did but I may not have measured 2wice…
Now I have to show you my back fabric too. I love these gorgeous tulips, I got them at Sew Sisters when she had them on her 6.99 shelf  now how can you not resist these?!! I have a friend that if she sees this post she will gag…LOL.
sidenote...Sewsisters is expanding and it really looks like it is going to be a great addition go take a look
I brought this quilt to my guild meeting and it was a big hit. I think everyone now had an idea of what to do with those UGLY (what some might call) fabrics
100_3827
The other night after finishing the quilt above I decided to make my May Kathleen Tracey Mini quilt that she has assigned us the group in Yahoo is called Small Talk ( a very very active mini quilt group), I have to quilt it but I am going to wait till I take my Big Stitch class with Lucy Anne Holliday next Saturday…I have a plan for the finishing.

Well that is it for show and share…our visits are far but as you can see I am productive…

Stripper on the loose…

100_3752
Some strips…..
100_3753
3 quilters sharing their uglies
100_3754
working hard to get our strips sewn.
this is Rosemarie and she is doing a tutorial on the quilt we are making together before she moves up north at the end of the month go to http://www.appliqueandpatches.blogspot.com she has the first part of the tutorial up and will post the rest a little later.
i think it is fabulous that she takes the time to do it.
http://www.patchworksanity.blogspot.com
this is now the second creation these are the strips from we 3 quilters I still have to put another row on, the design wall is to small and then I am adding the little squares all the way around and then black for the outside boarder
i hope when you click on this picture you can see that the black is big billowy roses. i bought this fabric at least 8 or 9 years ago at the Quilting Patch in the Guildwood of Scarborough. This store will be closing its doors as of the end of May… the 3rd store to close in the last year here. hmmmmm sign of the times.

Project update…Stash invasion

100_3737
I am on block 6 now of 9 for the Love Letters quilt! I am so excited! I am more than half way there.  I am in a group to finish up some UFO`s it is great incentive to pull out my stuff and get them done so that they can be happy quilts.
100_3741
Also pieced 30 siggy blocks that will be going to another part of the world. I am ahead of the game they still haven`t closed the signup but I wanted to make sure that I had these done. You never know when you might get a chance to work on things. It is to be shirting background and 1800`s fabric for the star, there is only enough room to put your name and town, which is good cause I am not very creative as some are with siggies.
100_3743
This quilt was done when I got home from my retreat, one of the ladies was finishing her UFO and I loved the pattern, the strip sashing in the middle was one solid color and the boarders where piano key, I could only see squares all around in between the chevrons, I tried to pick the ugliest FQ`s knowing I would not use them in my quilts and it still turned out pretty good. I just love my boarder fabric. All this is just from the stash. I started on Sunday afternoon and finished Monday night and that was even going to work during the day! just couldn`t stop!

This little gem is a work in progress it is another mini that i had been working100_3745 on, the inside blocks are fledglings of another mini they stayed on the design wall just like that then I saw this pink blossom fabric and couldn`t resist. I think I will just quilt and bind it now. I have a couple of other mini`s to show you later but didn`t get a picture of them yet.
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter with your family in following loads of blogs the Easter pictures were lovely and the good eats you all made!! um!!

Events

CIMG0899
I entered this mini into the quilt show last weekend held by Kindred Hearts, the show turned out fabulous with many visitors and the weather was perfect considering they were calling for 4in of snow…NOT! beautiful sunshine both days
This was the mini I had made and when I went to my retreat 2 weekends ago I quilted, and quilted and quilted to get it done. All hand quilted of course, just in the nick of time
CIMG0904
I had pieced this quilt when we had the SARS epidemic and hand quilted it took about 6 months and is still one of my fav`s not much color but love the fabrics. Pattern was from one of the Quiltmaker mags, sorry cannot remember what year, I then didn`t learn to write things down.
CIMG0905
I entered this mish mash of a quilt too, thought I would be able to deplete some scraps…again NOT! This was also made at the time of our epidemic, there are lots of memories in this one since most of the scraps are from quilts that I had made. I used only scraps for backing batting and binding as well.
CIMG0907
I made this one a while ago too, it was a stack and whack with the boarder fabric and the fabric was called the Unhappy Hour so I thought it was perfect to name the quilt as such, I also loved both background fabrics, the dark one has cats eyes
I guess you can also see that I love prairie points
If you would like to see some great pictures of the quilt show go visit the True Blue Canadian she took some great shots!
CIMG0921
Then the Temecula company did a basket BOW mini for March and who can resist baskets, (well I know someone but it ain`t me) so here is mine. I had a little bit of a tough time with the outside edges and the cutting measurements as you can see it just fit but I have to take it apart and redo it so that I can have a 1/4in all around and not cut off my squares, darn! but it will be worth it, pictures are like kids they don`t lie and tell it like it is, I see that I may have to look at that bottom right block too, she is swaying to the right
Scrap Itch
Then Cheri posted another mini to make I like to call this one the Scrap Itch, this was made from another quilt that I have to get a picture of and show you, it was made after retreat, that is a new story
Hope you all have a wonderful Easter thanks for taking a little time to visit my humble blog.
